The Jewish Birthday
What it means and how it is celebrated
Your birthday commemorates the day on which G‑d said to you: “You, as an individual, are unique and irreplaceable. No person alive, no person who has ever lived, and no person who shall ever live, can fulfill the specific role in My creation I have entrusted to you ... ”
In 1988, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, asked that we all utilize this most special day of our lives to its utmost. A day to recommit to the mission that G‑d entrusted to us—bettering and sanctifying ourselves and the world around us.
Here you will learn the history of Jewish birthdays, why they are significant and how they are celebrated.
